Nothing But Love

The trade everyone knew was happening but just had to wait 30 days for it to officially take place: Kevin Love for Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett. The Cleveland Cavilers got Lebron James an all-star power forward, while the T’Wolves received the last two #1 picks. The question after every trade is, ” Who won the trade?” Or “who got the better deal”? The obvious answer is that the Cavs won the trade because they now have a double double machine in Kevin Love. However what makes this trade interesting is Andrew Wiggins, the first overall pick in the 2014 draft.

Wiggins being taken #1 is impressive because the 2014 draft is one of the deepest drafts in recent memory. The T’Wolves traded their franchise player for an unproven asset that is Wiggins. What Wiggins becomes and what the Cavs accomplish will tell who got the better of the deal. If Love helps Lebron bring a championship to Cleveland than it doesn’t matter what becomes of Wiggins; Love did what he was brought there to do. Helping bring a championship to Cleveland is worth trading a potential all-star in Andrew Wiggins. Now if the Cavs and Lebron don’t win a championship and Wiggins becomes a franchise player, then I believe the T’Wolves won the trade. Wiggins is only 19 years of age he has a long ways to go but he is full with potential. He can defend in the NBA right off the bat but needs to improve his jump shot along with his handle.

But what is very interesting is that T’Wolves had a record in season ticket sales after the trade went through. The city of Minnesota have embraced this young team the T’Wolves have assembled. They have young athletic wings in Andrew Wiggins and Zach Lavine combine that with a creative passer in Ricky Rubio, points to the T’Wolves being an exciting team. This also says that the fans of the T’Wolves were getting ready for a team without Love especially if it meant getting Andrew Wiggins.

One thing is for certain the Cavs love the fact they now have Love and the T’Wolves love the fact that they have their next franchise player in Wiggins. It is nothing but love…..for now.
