It ain’t over till it’s over. Many thought the Dodgers have the NL West already locked up but a quick look at the standings and you’ll notice that is not the case at all. The Dodgers just have a 2 game lead against the Giants, whom they have a 3 game series this weekend. The Giants lead the season series 7-6. This weekend series can have a deep impact in who will win the NL West. The Dodgers can push their division led to 5 games going down the home stretch. However the Dodgers can also find themselves 1 back in the division after this weekend.
For the Dodgers they have their three best pitchers pitching in this series. Ryu will go on Friday, Greinke on Saturday and Kershaw will close the series on Sunday. So the Dodgers love their chances in increasing their division lead especially with Kershaw who is just on a different planet right now. While the Giants will answer with Bumgarner,Hudson, and Petit. We are in a for a pitching series. If you love watching great pitching you’re going to love this series. However not everything is clicking for the Dodgers, Puig has been struggling at the plate and it seems Hanely keeps muffling the ball at shortstop. Also the Giants will be entering this weekend series on a 3 game winning streak and winners of 7 out of 10.
The Dodgers and Giants will add to their great rivalry this weekend by playing meaningful games against each other in September for the division. What is scary is that their is also a chance albeit small chance that one of them can miss the playoffs with the Giants having a 1 1/2 game lead on the Brewers for the Wild Card. There is nothing better than watching the Dodgers and Giants battle it out for the division crown. This is going to be a fun weekend of baseball folks. Can’t wait!!
